Goodbye

Thanks for the visits and the comments all of you have left since I started this little blog in August. For those of you I know only virtually, I wish you well. You know my email address and I'd love to stay in touch.

For those of you who were the reason I started making posts here in order to keep you current on what's going on with me... Pick up the damned phone or IM me. (heh)

popping ears

so, this morning, while i was driving to work, my ears were popping. (i don't live on a hill)

for those of you who know me well, you'll know that today was the first day i've been in the office for a while.

you'll also know that, while i'm not superstitious, i do question stuff like popping ears.

does it mean i'm descending into hell?

or does it mean i'm about to enter a higher plane?

turns out. . . it was all about hell.

don't even ask.

just pray. if you do that sort of thing, that is.

friends in the oddest places

So, recently I realized that all the friends I'd gotten close to since I moved to North Carolina have moved away. And I've been feeling sad and lonely. Especially after getting back from Utah, where I was surrounded by friends.

They've moved as far away as Milan. Or Seattle. Or Park City. Or worse: Hillsborough. (it's worse because it seems close. But when you need someone to take the dog out to pee because you have pneumonia, it may as well be Milan. As if you're gonna ask someone to drive 25 minutes so the dog can pee.)

Anyway. Today, we were driving back from Duke Forest and there was a sign in front of a church advertising a Dave Ramsey seminar. In case I haven't mentioned it, he's my new guru. I'm a total fan. So I grabbed a pen and wrote the number on my hand, nearly driving off the road in the process. And when I got home and called, I dialed the number wrong. "Blah, blah, blah, blah I'm calling about the Dave Ramsey seminar, blah, blah, blah."

It turns out I had the wrong number but this woman and I ended up having a 15 minute conversation about money and now we're gonna meet for coffee! Who knows? She may be my new best friend in Durham! Maybe her finances are as much of a train wreck as mine. And while we're on the path to wealth and freedom from debt, we can walk our dogs at Duke Forest and commisserate about the good old days when we'd go to Nordstrom and drop the big coin on pretty Cole Haan's just because it was Saturday.

You just never know when things are going to suddenly change, do you?

Thank you BrendaK!

I think that chicken soup of yours did the trick. I'm feeling human for the first time in days.
